New Construction: From Site Visit to Move-in Day

home construction timeline

There’s a lot to think about and plan when you buy a home constructed just for you. If you have the right builders, they will walk you through the entire process as seamlessly as possible so that your hardest decisions are which faucets and light fixtures to install!

Step 1:
The steps to buying new construction begin like any traditional home sale. Get pre-approved for a mortgage and work with one of our realtors to choose the floor plan that’s right for you. Then you’ll enter into a sales contract.

Step 2:
LaMontagne Builders will draw up the plans, and after a final site walk, you’ll make appointments to visit our Design Center. Those two 3-hour sessions are when we’ll help you choose the colors, flooring, accessories and products for each area of your new home.

Step 3:
In the meantime, we will have secured the building permit, and construction begins. After that, it’s all about watching your customized home be built from the ground up. There will be a few walk-throughs during the process, and you’ll be updated on progress.

Step 4:
The closing! Welcoming you home is always an exciting day.

From start to finish, these steps can take between three to five months, depending on the options and customizations you choose, as well as the number of homes being constructed at the same time. We do build all year round, however, and weather is less of a factor than you might think.
